Joanna Cooke writes about nature and our human connection with it. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a park ranger. When she grew up, she spent ten years in California’s Sierra Nevada, including eight years as an environmental educator for Yosemite Institute and two summers as a ranger in Yosemite National Park—her first dream come true. Now living a new dream, Joanna writes books for young readers about people and nature, drawing upon her MFA in Writing for Young People from Lesley University as well as her countless adventures in the natural world.
