About Me

I began my career as an outdoor educator working in California and spent eight years teaching field science to school groups in Yosemite National Park. This time in wild places has surely shaped my own writing, which explores nature and the human connection to it.

My first books were written for my fairy god-daughter. After my son Karsten was born in 2009, I began studying the craft of writing and eventually earned my Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Lesley University. I’m certified in coaching fiction through the respected Author Accelerator program and am currently working toward my nonfiction certification.

My family and I moved to Jackson, Wyoming, in 2008. My husband Chris is a teacher, and our son is in 9th grade. We love to camp, backpack and travel as a family.

I have two cats. Charlotte is shy, a bit like her namesake from Charlotte’s Web. Eiger loves cuddling, grooming his humans, and hunting his adopted sister. They do not get along…yet!
